Miguel is a Salvadoran filmmaker from South Central Los Angeles. Seeing the struggles that his family faced at work, he decided to seek revenge in the only way he knew possible, by writing. He saw television as the perfect outlet to share stories of family, prejudice, and class. His drive to expand the industry to include stories centering on communities of color propelled his work at Lionsgate, Apple, and Mission Entertainment. Recently, he was selected for the National Hispanic Media’s Script Writers Program sponsored by NBC and Netflix. He was awarded a grant by Dolby and Ghetto Film School to write and direct a short film and was selected to be a Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Fellow, where he wrote and directed a short about technology and Los Angeles. Miguel worked as a writer’s assistant and script coordinator on the animated revival, Everybody Still Hates Chris, for Comedy Central. Most recently, he was selected as a recipient of the Eastside Arts Initiative grant supported by Pulse Arts. When he’s not seeking revenge, you can find Miguel eating Korean food, reading ethnic studies, or calling out some billionaires on Twitter.
